Teatro Isabel La Católica
The Teatro Isabel La Católica in Granada dates from the end of the 1940s, and is by the architect Don Miguel Olmedo. The layout of the building corresponds to the Italian style of Theatre, the most striking thing being its location in a building of dwellings, with no sign of the theatre building on the outside beyond the signs and the door canopy located on the façade of the municipal building.
The new Teatro Isabel la Católica opened in 1952, a few days before the start of the 1st Festival of Music and Dance, which used this venue for the closing ceremony of that its first edition with two recitals by the incredible guitarist Andrés Segovia.
The current layout follows the major renovation which was undertaken in 1998, a large hall seating 574 spectators dedicated exclusively to the production of the great hits from the theatre scene of each season.
