Guadix is one of the oldest human settlements in Spain. The most characteristic feature of this town are the wonderful cave dwellings that characterise the neighbourhoods and which are also still inhabited today. This monumental town preserves an interesting historical-artistic heritage consisting of 11th century towers with magnificent views of the fertile plain, the town and the Sierra Nevada.

In Guadix you can take a journey back in time through different cultures and civilisations simply by walking through the narrow streets while appreciating the great monuments. Religious architecture plays a leading role in Guadix and there are buildings of notable interest including the Cathedral and the churches of Santa Ana, Santo Domingo and San Francisco.

The Megalithic Park of Gorafe is an archaeological site that can be visited and is located in the municipality of Gorafe. It is one of the finest examples of megalithic culture in the south of the Iberian Peninsula because of the large number of funerary monuments.
