Sacromonte
El Sacromonte is the old gypsy quarter, situated on the Valparaíso Hill. After going up Cuesta del Chapiz, Camino del Sacromonte is to the right. It is an exciting and colourful path filled with slopes and bends which enables visitors to enjoy attractive scenes of wild beauty.
On the right is the Darro River, which flows lazily and merrily along the bottom of a deep ravine.
Zambras have been celebrated in these caves for centuries. They are singing and dancing parties full of rhythm and life, to the rhythm of clapping and guitar-playing, which used to go on until early morning and today they are still one of the most attractive traditional shows for foreign visitors after nightfall.
