Iglesia del Salvador
This church is built on the site of the old Albaicín Great Mosque. The Patio of Ablutions, remains of columns and a very deep well are conserved to this day. For decades, El Salvador Church was one of only two Granada churches with the right to asylum. Scapulars of penitent moriscos (Muslim-Christian converts), reviewed by the Inquisition, were hung in its cloister. These had previously been on display in the Cathedral.
The church houses artistic treasures such as Bocanegra´s painting of the Last Supper, the statue of the saviour by Pedro Duque de Cornejo, and the Señor de la Sangre´ Crucified Christ, carved in the 17th century.
