Iglesia de Santo Domingo
Founded Iglesia de Santo Domingo in the 16th century by the Catholic Monarchs, this is considered one of the most interesting churches in Granada. It forms part of the Santa Cruz la Real Monastery, where the Tribune of the Spanish Inquisition held its sessions, and it was the resting place of noble Granada families for centuries.
The church interior has a Latin-cross layout with five chapels on each side. Its decorative elements are in Baroque style. Its domes and arches are Gothic, while the columns, windows, cornices and the main door are Romanesque. The entrance is preceded by a stone portico with three semi-circular arches set on Doric columns. Within its spandrels you can see the initials of the Catholic Monarchs, their coat of arms and that of Emperor Charles V with the motto of the Monarchs, tanto monta, in the centre.
