Parque del Cañuelo
South of the Aljarafe Foothills, in the town of Gelves, extends Cañuelo Park, which takes its name from an old farmhouse in its surroundings and from its fountain, whose original construction could date from the 16th century. It would have been used to water a range of orchards. Located near the town centre, it offers an ideal place for connecting with nature in a haven of peace.
El Cañuelo has trails that do not interfere with free passage of water along ditches and channels. Water, star of this area, together with the ancient vegetation, carves out the way for paths and fountains at this site.
Cañuelo Park conserves elements of the old farmhouse and the entrance, in the Mannerist style, to an old water mine housing tunnels which, according to popular belief, cross through the foothills.
