Parque de los Manantiales
The large green area around the Manantiales Park owes its name to the many waters that flow naturally there and since ancient times from its subsoil: the Aljarafe foothills. Immersed in the urban centre of Gelves, with an area of 3.5 hectares, it offers a wide variety of spaces and atmospheres.
The enormous slopes of the terrain drove the creation of a massive waterfall that pours out into some ponds, which gather the waters from the springs. Traditional is also the existence of a large meadow lawn and an attractive eucalyptus plantation, where you can stroll and enjoy nature at its best.
The existence of trails, winding and rough, have accommodated diverse sporting competitions. The place is home to autochthonous species, street furniture and cleaning service, so necessary. The water is the main protagonist with numerous water channels, ponds, canals crossed by bridges, as well as a water fountain for drinking from at its centre.
Its vegetation comprises wild species: olives, poppies, jaramago and “vinagritos”, giving an idea of their excellent state of natural conservation. Regarding the animal species, there are those typical of areas inhabited by human species, although we would recommend the high number of butterflies, giving the foothills an important zoological diversity.
