Every year in the village of Galaroza in Huelva, the area around the shrine of Santa Brígida is transformed to become the stage for a living nativity scene which delights both visitors and the local inhabitants.
The nativity scene offers a re-enactment of the typical atmosphere surrounding the birth of Jesus in the Palestine of old. The scenes can be seen from the lower slopes of the hill, and the route leads up to the top where the shrine stands. Once inside, visitors can see the blacksmith, cobbler, and farmer at work, as well as a woman roasting chestnuts over a fire.
Huts, cabins, shops, market gardens, and a range of other sites serve as the setting for this faithful recreation of the spirit of those historic moments, and offer an exceptional spectacle for all the visitors.
