Located in the town of Galaroza, El Carmen Shrine is the result of various renovation works that were ongoing up to approximately 1880.

It has a neo-classical altarpiece where the statue of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of Galaroza, is worshipped. It is difficult to say who made this sculpture and when. As an additional problem, a discovery has shown that originally it was a Virgen de la Merced, which indicates this may be a statue from the late 16th century. It would seem that José Montes de Oca was the person who remodelled the statue during the first half of the 18th century.

Highlights include the statue of a Crucified Christ and a kneeling Virgen Dolorosa dating back to the early 18th century.

Normally open. Book a visit with the priest or the town council.
