Flavours and Scents
Well into autumn, when it starts to get cold, our land smells of cinnamon, toasted almonds, chocolate, vanilla and anise. Some scents tell us that Christmas is near. And this means it's time to eat "mantecados" and "turrón", which are made in very special ways in workshops and closed convents.
During the carnivall, Don Carnal takes over the kitchen and treats us to tasty fillings and succulent stews that lead to Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday. And during Holy Week we can enjoy cod and traditional pastries such as "pestiños", "torrijas" and "hornazos".
