Exploring Minimum Island and the scenes from Game of Thrones
Do you love cinema and series? Would you like to relive some of the scenes from the film Minimum Island or from the 6th Season of Game of Thrones? Then keep reading!
For the next report we went to the province of Seville, where Alberto Rodríguez Librero, director of the film Minimum Island, and producers from the series Game of Thrones, decided to recreate the fascinating scenes from both the film and the series.
In the case of Game of Thrones, the producer HBO was taken aback with the luminosity of Seville. They were looking for a warm and sunny place to recreate the Kingdom of Dorne.
A large part of the 6th series was shot in this kingdom, and the directors did not hesitate in selecting the Reales Alcazares de Sevilla to shoot all the inside scenes.
Unlike many other places where this series was filmed, in Seville, no digital postproduction was used. None of the backdrops were computer-modified, since the quality of the surroundings was so amazing that only props were used to make the locations perfect for filming.
And it's no wonder. How many cities in the world can boast of having such marvellous places as the Patio de las Doncellas?
Its plasterwork, tiles on the walls, horseshoe arches… and what can be said of the wonderful Doña María de Padilla Baths where, as you would expect, scenes were filmed with the character Ellaria Arena.
In the case of Minimum Island, we can say that thanks to this film and the big screen, Sevillians and Spanish alike have discovered a series with absolutely amazing locations.
All these locations form part of the Doñana marshes.
It's mainly the flooded rice fields, gravel roads and immense flatlands that delight visitors.
Being able to see the wildest side of the Guadalquivir is a real experience. The water turns white and the width of the river multiplies three-fold between rushes and fishing boats.
And what about its wildlife! Undoubtedly its greatest attraction.
Very easily, without having to be an expert ornithologist with sophisticated observation equipment, we guarantee that you will see ducks, heron, cranes, teal, geese, storks and with a bit of luck, even golden eagles.
In short, unique locations in the province of Seville where you can relive one of the most spectacular settings for the sixth season of Game of Thrones as well as the wonderful and dramatic Minimum Island. You'll be back!
