The town of Espera in the province of Cádiz changes every year when December arrives and offers one of the town's most typical images, the Living Nativity, where the people of the town dress in period costume and stage their particular representation of the Birth of Jesus.
As is the custom, it takes place on the slopes of Monte Fatetar and in the Castle Cave as well as in the Calle Santo Cristo, an incomparably beautiful and harmonious setting. A great number of the town's residents take part, all dressed in period costume. The event is accompanied by typical Christmas produce.
