Madroño, El
Small mountain village located in the western part of the province, near the border with the province of Huelva. Its landscape of medium-sized mountains is typical of the area, and comprises a mixture of hills, pasture land, forests of holm oaks and fields used for farming and livestock.
History
The name of the village comes from the large number of arbutus at the site of the original settlement.
It belonged to El Castillo de Las Guardas until 1921, year in which it became an independent municipality, to which the hamlets of El Alamo, Juan Antón, Juan Gallego and Villagordo.
