Guijo, El
A small village belonging to the Los Pedroches region in the north of the province, on the border with the province of Ciudad Real, amidst a landscape made up almost entirely of holm oak meadows devoted to cattle farming.
El Guijo, scattered across a plain in the middle of this green terrain, displays all of the architectural characteristics typical of the region.
History
The village's name is derived from the physical characteristics of the area.
From then on, the evolution of the village followed a parallel course to that of the other villages in the region and at the end of the 16th century it fell under the lordly control of the Marquis of Carpio. This situation prevailed until 1747, when El Guijo returned to royal jurisdiction.
