El Daymún
This emblematic building, El Daymún, is a mausoleum or family funerary construction from the late-Roman era (4th Century) that, together with the mosaic, remains one of the most memorable constructions in the city of Murgi.
The name of El Daymún refers to the buildings used for spas and baths in the Muslim period.
The exterior is virtually square and the interior floor plan is a Greek cross, whose ends are marked by three arches sunk into the walls which sheltered the sarcophagi.
The construction of El Daymún is in dressed stone masonry and mortar, covered by a barrel vault, with a flat, gabled roof.
The building is in an area which is difficult to access; so it is advisable to contact the cultural department of the Ayuntamiento de El Ejido for visits.
