The El Cerro de Andévalo Ethnographic Museum is in a building that was created in the 16th century as a granary, a communal wheat store. In the 17th century it was converted into a prison and in the 18th century it was returned to its original function and became the corn exchange. In the 19th and 20th centuries it changed function several times, including a salt store, a grammar school, a telephone exchange and again a prison, until the 1970s. In the 1990s it was refurbished and converted into a museum.

The museum is functionally divided into three rooms dedicated to the recent history of El Cerro de Andévalo, the pilgrimage of San Benito Abad and the traditional economy.

The articles on display are entirely ethnographic in nature, with special mention for the pieces that were part of the history of the pilgrimage, the oldest in the province of Huelva and with a rich historical past.

Wednesday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Saturday from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm.

Free admission.
