El Bosque Encantado (The Enchanted Forest)

The autumn is the ideal time to visit this fantastic landscape of chestnut and pine trees. The blend of yellow, green and orange hues make a delightful spectacle. The ground is covered by a natural carpet of dried leaves and fruit. It smells like rain! The light filtering through the treetops is a delight for anyone who comes to discover this place. You really should come here for a walk!

A walk along this trail that is barely five kilometres is a journey into a magic environment where legends from remote times give free rein to the imagination. The babbling waters of the Múrtigas River, also known as the Ribera del Jabugo, are a constant companion on the journey and act as an extraordinary soundtrack.

It should be mentioned that this is a themed trail. There are plaques and signposts on some of the trees with names engraved on them that refer to popular stories by the Grimm Brothers, Disney, Calleja and Harry Potter. And who is responsible for this? Rodolfo Recio, Director of the Lexicon Museum of Fuenteheridos. Write it down, it really shouldn't be missed!

The track presents little difficulty and there are no steep slopes so it is ideal for everyone, from beginners to experienced hikers. The route can also be taken on horseback and by bicycle, so this is another advantage which makes it rather special. The route can also be enjoyed together with a stop in the delightful town of Castaño del Robledo.

Visit this Enchanted Forest, a great excuse to indulge in the magic of nature. An excursion that will delight young and old alike. By the way, be wary of the apparent peace and tranquillity in the 'glade of the gnomes'. You have been warned!
