Museo Casa-Palacio de los Palma
In the heart of Ecija, the Los Palma House-Museum occupies a 16th-17th century mansion. It is a charming place for all types of events and a very special place to enjoy a couple of days in the heart of one of Spain's most beautiful and historic towns. It has been declared of Cultural Interest.
This perfectly preserved palace is in a building that was previously a convent of the Dominican Order. The entrance to the palace leads to a mounting block, with the stables on the left and the two-storey central patio on the right, with its semicircular arches and marble columns. This courtyard leads to the orange tree courtyard, with a stone fountain and the convent's old well, which, according to legend, connects to a passageway leading to the Genil River.
The upper floor features large rooms with Mudejar coffering on the ceilings, galleries and antique furniture: the writing room, the music room, several galleries with antiques, a lounge with a 16th-century floor and another room decorated with coffered ceilings with star patterns. Open to visitors.
The nuns left the convent following the Mendizabal dissolution act, with the convent subsequently becoming the home of the Marquis of Cuevas del Becerro. In 1843 It was converted into the Plaza de Abastos. The Quartermaster Park was added in 1899 . This artistic house has been inhabited by the Palma family since 1940 .
