Iglesia de San Gil
Located in the oldest and highest parts of Ecija, the church of San Gil, in the San Gil district or "Cerro del Alcazar", is the oldest in the city, blending into its location with its traditional style and feel.
The original church, built in the Mudejar style, dates from 1479, but alterations have been made over the centuries. Today almost all of the building is in the Baroque style.
The church is home to the Cristo de la Salud, a fascinating 16th century sculpture to which the people of Ecija are particularly devoted.
It has the tallest and, some say, most beautiful tower in the city.
