Biography

Diego Andrade Martagón, Diego Clavel, born in La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville) in 1946. Like José Menese, it was the poet and landscape painter, Francisco Moreno Galván, who introduced him to the intricacies of the cante art. His enormous pulmonary faculties allowed him to succeed in a great number of contests and festivals in the 1960s. He has participated in many shows and performed in many theatres.

Considered one of the best experts of malagueñas alive, and singer of extreme strength and knowledge of the oldest and purest styles, seguiriyassoleá, cantes del levante, fandangos...

In 1970 he obtains the First Prize in Seguiriyas and Tonás in the 8th Festival of Cante Jondo “Antonio Mairena” in Mairena del Alcor (Seville) followed by the Catavino de Oro given by the Peña El Lucero in Montilla, during the festival of La Cata de Montilla, competing with Juan Peña "El Lebrijano"José MeneseCurro MalenaEl Camarón de la Isla and Antonio Fernández Díaz “ Fosforito”. Another of his awards has been the prize Saeta de Oro de Radio Nacional de España in Seville in 1971. In 1972, he wins the Second Prize in the contest of the first 50th anniversary Cante Jondo Competition in Granada
