Torre Vigía de Torrequebrada
It is thought to have been built by the Moors on a steep peak in Punta Negra, a strategic place that overlooks the Alborán Sea. They would have communicated with other towers and towns nearby using fire and smoke to warn about the presence of enemies opposite the coast of the kingdom of Granada.
Its name (“Broken Tower”) is due to its bad condition until it was rebuilt several times during the 16th century. It is cylindrical and 7 metres high. The fire was lit at the bottom and the smoke drifted up towards the top.
