At the top of the Peña is the Castillo de Castril, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the high plateau and, of course, the town of Castril itself, offering unrivalled 360º panoramic views of the landscape. The view to the north takes in the high peaks of the Sierra de Castril, which are overlooked by the thick wall of the Portillo reservoir. Against this backdrop is Castril, with the building of the Visitor Centre of the Sierra de Castril Natural Park standing out. On the opposite side, the river valley can be seen, which flows towards the high plateau of Granada, filling meadows and orchards with freshness. In the centre of the viewpoint rises a three-metre high image of the Heart of Jesus, an emblem for the people of Castril. It should be remembered that the Peña de Castril has been declared a Natural Monument, a Site of Historic Interest in the Castril Historic Site and a Site of Geological Interest (LIG).
