Royal Stables
The Royal Stables of Córdoba were founded in 1570 by royal decree of Philip II, who loved horses and wanted to create one of the finest breeds the world had ever seen: the Pure Spanish Thoroughbred Andalusian Horse.
What was at first simply a royal wish ended up becoming one of Philip II’s grandest and dearest projects. The Pure Spanish Thoroughbred was a very popular riding horse and soon became a striking symbol of the Spanish Empire.
Now, these horses return to their origins and birthplace, the city of Córdoba, with the equestrian show "Passion and Spirit of the Andalusian Horse". A real delight for the whole family in the stunning setting of the monumental Royal Stables of Córdoba.
Every two years since 2004, the Municipal Tourism Board of Córdoba has been hosting a tourism gala to award prizes and distinctions to individuals, companies and organisations that promote the city's tourist attractions with a view to making Córdoba a leading destination.
At the Fifth Gala Tourism held on 27 September 2012, the equestrian show "Passion and Spirit of the Andalusian Horse" won the best tourism product award.
