The Teatro Góngora also known as the Góngora Cinema or Pathè Cinema, is a theatre located in the city of Córdoba. Specifically, in the Calle Jesús María. It was one of the most important theatres in the city and in the 1980s practically the only one, due to the closure of the Gran Teatro.
On the ground floor there is a 700-seat venue for performances, and the terrace that used to be a summer cinema seats 350 people. It is a venue for theatre performances, concerts, numerous cultural activities, children's and dance shows.
The Teatro Góngora was originally built as a cinema, on the site of the old Convent of Jesús María, between 1929 and 1932 and it was designed by Luis Gutiérrez Soto, an architect from Madrid. It is an example of Rationalist architecture in Córdoba, combining a certain Mediterranean appearance on the façade, with pergolas and semicircular arches. The interior is modern, plain and formal with a spacious terrace used for screening films in the summer months. The cinema, where theatre performances were also held, closed in the 1980s.
The building was purchased by the Town Hall of Córdoba in 2004. Restoration began in 2009 and doors officially reopened on 6 October 2011.
