The Vimcorsa Exhibition Hall opened in December 2001 and after refurbishment moved to a three-story mansion dating back to the end of the 19th century and the house where the Duque de Rivas, renowned politician and Spanish Romanic writer, was born. Part of the main floor of this building is occupied by an exhibition hall that permanent and intentionally varied programme in terms of historical periods, disciplines and artistic formats. This room has five continuous spaces and meets all the ICOM's preventive preservation recommendations.
During this time it has become the only exhibition hall in the city of Córdoba with an uninterrupted programme. We have held more than eighty exhibitions so far and there have been over 400,000 visitors, of which approximately 30% were tourists. This makes it a cultural benchmark for the people of Córdoba for visitors. It has been our privilege to collaborate and show works of art belonging to some of the most important cultural institutions, like the International Centre of Photography (ICP) in New York, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) in Madrid.
We have also contributed to the recognition of great local cultural figures, like Manolete, Antonio Povedano and Pepe Espaliú through the promotion of over twenty exhibitions dedicated to art in Córdoba.
