Plaza de Colon is one of the most popular squares in the city. Located in the center, it receives many streets and avenues that make it an important hub for traffic.
It is named after Christopher Columbus stayed in the Convent of Mercy, formerly located in this square.
The square has some nice gardens, inside which lies the small mosque of Al-Morabito, where it is practiced the cult of Islam.
