Cuevas de José María El Tempranillo
The José María el Tempranillo Caves are annexed to the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta in Corcoya. These shallow caves, which have recently been restored, are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
As the name of the caves suggests, they were used by José María el Tempranillo, who was a devout follower of Our Lady of Fuensanta, when he came to take refuge and visit the Virgin and his confidant the santero. It is the perfect place to hide as it is so secluded. El Tempranillo was pardoned by King Ferdinand VII here in 1832.
