The orange harvest begins in October and ends in May, which is why the orange festival is celebrated in this month.
It has been declared a "Fiesta de Singularidad Turística Provincial" by the Diputación de Málaga and 25 editions have been held. With this celebration, both the wide variety of food and agricultural products produced in the town and the handicrafts are promoted and publicised.
In addition, locals and visitors can enjoy free freshly squeezed orange juice, ensaladilla de naranja con bacalao (orange salad with cod) and sopa hervía (boiled soup), typical local dishes.
Every year the "Premio Naranja Honorífico" is awarded to a person, group, association or company that stands out for their work in spreading and promoting the image of Coín, in recognition of the local administration.
