This annual cattle fair has evolved gradually over time until its present form as a major popular fiesta. Its celebration today coincides with the day of the town’s unofficial patron saint, San Antonio, the 13th of june.
The fair begins with the traditional ceremony of the official illumination of the festive lights. For a few days, the Las Albinas Fair Ground comes alive with music, flamenco singing, promenades on horseback and in horse-drawn carriages, flamenco costumes and typical local produce, and the whole place is infused with colour and festive atmosphere.
The fireworks display provides a spectacular finishing touch to one of the most important festivities in Chiclana.
