C.R.A. Salinas de Chiclana
The Salinas de Chiclana Environmental Resources Centre, property of the Town Hall of Chiclana de la Frontera, is located in the Salina Santa María de Jesús, in the Bahía de Cádiz Nature Reserve. One of the 49 salt pans which there used to be in the district of Chiclana and the 149 in the Bay of Cádiz, it was in use until 1988.
In the C.R.A. Salinas de Chiclana the salt is obtained from the evaporation of seawater by the action of the wind and the sun, washed on site and harvested by hand, with no ingredients added. The products obtained: Traditional virgin sea salt, salt flakes and flor de sal are marketed under the Salema brand name and are ideal for stews, salt-baked fish, cooking seafood, etc.
Other high-quality Salema products include bath salts and sea salt moisturising lotion.
