Bodega Hacienda El Duende
The Bodega Hacienda El Duende has its roots in the 16th and 17th centuries in the district of Cazalla de la Sierra, in the Sierra Norte Nature Reserve in Seville. In the 16th century Cazalla de la Sierra had an extensive area dedicated to vineyards as a result of the characteristics of the soil and climate, and it was one of the main producers and exporters of wines to America.
In the early days, the Hacienda El Duende produced both wine and olive oil, but nowadays they devote most of their energy exclusively to the production of white, red and claret wines. After six generations, this wine cellar still produces high-quality wines in the traditional manner and which still have the that familiar traditional flavour.
The Hacienda El Duende has some nine hectares of vineyards, some are goblet-pruned and others on trellises, and it has modern facilities while still respecting and pampering the old wine cellar, a building with the typical characteristics of the area with great walls and semicircular arches. Highlights include the Sala de las Tinajas, ancient vats for the fermentation of the wine; the large, tapered stainless steel vats and the barrels of French oak for the ageing and preservation of the red wine.
