Castril Visitor Centre
At the Castril Visitor Centre you will find comprehensive information on the Sierra de Castril Nature Reserve and the facilities available for public use. It is located 500 metres from town centre of Castril and the staff are very helpful. There is a permanent exhibition where you can learn all about the main features of this protected natural space and an area for the sale of products including publications (books and brochures) and typical local produce.
The exhibition portrays the species of flora and fauna to be found in these mountains, and the spectacular geological features, with a special emphasis on the River Castril. As you walk through the interactive section of the visitor centre you will be able to identify the animal tracks on the ground, as well as the songs of different bird species, all of which have their habitat in the Sierra de Castril mountains. You will also see a collection of craft stained glass from Castril and a reproduction of a partial mammoth skeleton found at the Fuente Nueva archaeological site, in Orce
