At the foot of the village of Castril you will find this emblematic geological fault. Part of its importance stems from the village's origins, some 2,000 years ago at the foot of the mountain. The combined evolution of natural and human elements means that both aspects are completely integrated in the landscape.

It has a viewpoint set over 100 metres up, offering excellent views of the mountains and the Baza and Guadix depressions. Nearby you can see the Cristo del Sagrado Corazón and the remains of an old Moorish castle that show the importance of this site for the local residents of Castril. A little further down there is a church where a small trail starts running down to the Castril River in its deep canyon with vertical walls and rugged topography.

On the way you can see all the natural wealth of the spot. Some species are exclusive to the area, such a the Cazorla violet.
