Castilleja de Guzmán
Municipality of the Aljarafe district located near the city of Seville, within its AREA of metropolitan influence. Nonetheless, it still conserves a rural aspect with its fields of cereals herbaceous crops and olive groves. It has some interesting buildings, such as the Hacienda de la Pastora, the Palace of the Condes de Castilleja and the church of San Benito.
History
The origins of the village date back to the Roman domination, although it became important during the period of Al-Andalus.The Arab chief Almanzor lived here for some time.
Following the Christian conquest in the 13th century, it fell under the jurisdiction of the Order of Santiago, and later under that of the counts of Olivares.
There are records which indicate that in the year 1500 it had already constituted its town council.
