Casariche
Small village belonging to the Campiña district, located where the provinces of Seville, Málaga and Córdoba meet. Its flat or gently rolling farm land is used to cultivate cereals and olive tree. The only monument of interest is the Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación.
History
The archaeological remains discovered at the Cerro de la Atalaya reveal that the original settlements go back far in history.
The Romans called it Ventigo, which was famous because it was the place where the sons of Pompey sought refuge and gathered forces in their struggle against Julius Ceasar, who finally surrounded and conquered the town.
Following the Christian reconquest it belonged to the feudal domain of Estepa.
