Cabra Malagueña

Based in the municipality of Casabermeja, the Asociación Española de Criadores de Cabra Malaga (Spanish Association of Malagueña Goat Breeders) aims to promote the consumption of products derived from this magnificent animal, an old companion of humans: milk, exquisite goat cheeses, and the prized Chivo Lechal Malagueño, the first goat meat to receive a nationally recognised Seal of Quality.
Furthermore, from the tourist perspective, it offers an immersion experience in the world of the Malaga goat. It has four activities that can be done together or separately: guided tour of the Casa de la Cabra Malagueña, cheese workshop, cheese tasting and grazing pasture.
Its centre of operations is at the Casa de la Cabra Malagueña, a visitor centre with information panels, farming tools and audiovisual materials. The visit is complemented by several programmed activities: cheese-making workshops, product tasting sessions, visits to farms and tasting menus of Malaga Goat products at the town's restaurants. Casa de la Cabra Malagueña is a refurbished building with 4 rooms distributed on two storeys, an interior courtyard and a newly built room equipped for hosting the workshops and tastings.
The stunning landscapes of the countryside of Torcal de Antequera (World Heritage Site) and the Montes de Malaga Nature Reserve are the surroundings where the shepherding takes place, and where shepherds share their wisdom of one of the world's oldest professions.
