Carchuna
Carchuna, village dependent on Motril, lies nearby the Sacratif cape, on the foothills of the mountain range which shares the same name.
Along the years it has been a meeting point for diverse cultures of the Mediterranean. In the flat lands of Llanos de Carchuna, there is a site with Prehistoric paintings of the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. Presently, it is well known for its magnificent beaches.
History
This village has its origins in the settlement in Los Llanos in the 40s, of small farmers who were forming the core population, nurtured by families who came from various localities of the Alpujarra, as Torvizcón or Rubite.
The final takeoff came with housing by the Institute for Agrarian Reform and Development.
Massive immigration has also increased its population in recent years.
