Museo de las Telecomunicaciones
Located in the town of Canena, the Telecommunications Museum is the fruit of an agreement with the Telefónica Foundation, which provided numerous pieces and equipment from the previous historical-technological collection of the Madrid Foundation, but also thanks to the interest of a large number of emigrants of the village who worked in the sector. This is the case of Cristóbal Torres Godoy, who was Director of Telefonica's International Department, currently a retiree, a native of Canena, and one of the promoters of this museum.
The museum includes equipment, many of them in operation, that cover almost all disciplines of telecommunications associated with telephone service: terminals (both relatively old and modern telephones, including a coin-operated telephone box), commutation, transmission, cables (including some submarine lines), radio, satellite, outdoor telephone posts, etc.
Monday, from 4-6pm. Remaining days, by prior appointment.
Free entrance.
