The Church of Santa María del Reposo in Campillos, Malaga, was built in the 16th century (in 1506). Important renovation work was carried out on the building in the late 18th century and early 19th century, and the result is what we see today.

However, the site in general dates from 1805-1821, as important renovation work took place then and the structure was completed. Although the original layout was maintained, this important renovation work created the church that we find today: a building with three naves, with several chapels at the foot, attached to the Gospel nave. It also has a tower next to the chancel, covered with blue and white tiles. The bells that we see today were installed on 28 July 1787 and cast by master Vicente Farco, in Seville.  The tower clock was installed in 1631.

The façade of the Church of Santa María del Reposo reflects the richness of the Sevillian Baroque style. A magnificent example of this is the main entrance, where the stone has been laboriously cut out into mixtilinear shapes. It was designed by Antonio de Figueroa, one of the important architects of the city of Seville. He also took part in the transformation and adaptation to the Neoclassical style, the result of the renovation work carried out in the 19th century.
