Barrio del Pópulo
El Pópulo area is located at the entrance of the historical centre, between the Town Hall and the Cathedral, and is the oldest part of Cádiz. This is considered the true medieval centre of the city. Its origin dates back to the 13th century.
The three entrance arches date from this period, each one dedicated to its own incarnation: Arco de la Rosa, with its battlements; Arco del Pópulo, located under the hood of the same name and which highlights the inner curvature is an arc of túmido warhead; Arco de los Blancos, where it was the chapel of the Virgin.
