Lapiaz de los Lanchares
In Cabra and its mountain range, Lapiaz de los Lanchares is known for its irregular, rocky landscape that has been shaped by the effects rainwater has had on the limestone. Having stood as a witness to the geological richness of Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, it is one of the largest examples in Spain.
The slow action of water has been dissolving the limestone, working great crevices and grooves that, in some cases, reach depths of several metres, giving rise to rough and sharp forms that give the place a spectacular, almost lunar, nature.
Lapiaz de Los Lanchares forms a part of the Trail of the Ammonoids in Sierras Subbéticas Geopark.
Lapiaz de Los Lanchares can be reached by a narrow road that finishes at the Virgen de la Señora de Cabra Shrine located on the Picacho de Cabra. This road can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or by car (adopting the necessary precautions for a car's inclusion in this protected space).
