Bujalance Castle-Citadel
The Castillo-Citadel was built in the 10th century, during the caliphate of Abd al-Rahman III, and is a fine example of Muslim military architecture from the al-Andalus period. It is located in Bujalance, Córdoba.
The original name, Bury al-Hans (Tower of the Serpent), and the fact that it had seven towers, gave rise to the town's modern-day name and its coat of arms. Only three of the seven towers are still standing today: Mazmorra, Malvavisco and Las Palomas.
The Castle-Citadel is a designated historic-artistic monument and the old parade ground is nowadays used as a cultural venue.
