Easter week in Bujalance begins Palm Sunday with the procession representing the Triumphal Entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem, with the participation of the "Romans" of the Empire and carried by a group of female costaleras.
On Easter Tuesday, the Gran Poder exits the Franciscan church of Las Cadenas. Among the smoke of the incense, we can see a long rows of those wearing robes, accompanying a solitary Nazarene. On Holy Wednesday, the processional exit of the Brotherhood of Santo Vía Crucis takes place from the parish church of San Francisco. At dusk on Holy Thursday, behind its green paxboard and stern guiding cross, the Very Old Franciscan Brotherhood of Vera Cruz begins its procession from the shrine and Santa Cruz Plaza, displaying its four paces. In the early hours of Good Friday, the sense of expectancy concentrates at the shrine that houses, year-round, the sacred image of our Father Jesus the Nazarene. An incomparable place at which to experience the most emotional event of our Easter Week: departure of The very Honourable Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene and Our Lady of Sorrow.
At night on Good Friday, from the parish church of San Francisco departs the Brotherhood of the most Holy Christ of Good Death and our Lady of Sorrow, whose presidency of honour is held by ancient tradition by the Most Honourable Town Hall of Bujalance. Resurrection Sunday is preceded by the joyful tolls of the bells which had remained silent since Holy Thursday. After a mass sung by the "Rociero" Choir of San Isidro, the procession of the Risen Jesus and our Lady of Joy departs from the Temple of the Assumption.
