Just an hour from the city of Cordoba, you'll find the Sierras Subbéticas Nature Reserve, where you can enjoy nature and visit small charming rural towns. A landscape full of contrasts where you can find La Tiñosa, the highest peak in the province of Cordoba, standing at 1,570 metres. There are many nature spots, including Zuheros Bat Cave, with walls that are adorned with cave paintings.
The Reservoir of Iznájar is a perfect place to spend the day as a couple, with the family, friends, your pet, or even alone! Walking through pine forests and finding an oasis in the shape of Valdearenas beach is a truly amazing experience. This beach is considered one of the ten best inland places to swim in summer in Andalusia. You can take a boat ride on the reservoir or, if you love sports, you'll find water activities such as kayaking. Something a little different from the city!
There are other lakes that are stunning: Lagunas del Sur (Laguna Amarga, Laguna de Tíscar, Laguna de Zoñar, Laguna del Rincón, Laguna de los Jarales and Laguna del Salobral), one of the main wetlands in Europe designated a Nature Reserve as it is a place where over 700 migratory birds nest and hibernate, including more than 20 species such as red-crested pochards and shovellers.
In the permanent wetlands, we find Zóñar, in Aguilar, the only natural lake in Andalusia, which is more suitable for tourists.
