Mesón Puerta del Convento
In Benamejí, close to the lookout of the famous Grieta de Benameji, next to the façade of the old convent, we find the Mesón Puerta del Convento: a firm commitment to regional products, which make up a menu based on seasonal, fresh and quality products.
It offers a wide variety of typical home-style dishes, such as cod confit, Cordoba-style "salmorejo" (thick gazpacho made with bread), legs of suckling pig, grilled meats, leg of lamb with rosemary, fillet steak in white wine, deboned oxtail and artichokes with foie gras and prawns.
It also offers a wide variety of homemade desserts, including cheese cake or "gachas de la abuela" (grandma's style savoury porridge).
It has lounge, cellar and, for spring, an excellent terrace. Mesón Puerta del Convento offers wine and oil testing sessions with experts, as well as theme-based and theatre dinners.
Monday-Saturday (except Tuesdays), 9 am to 11:30 pm. Sunday, 10 am to 11:30 pm.
