Molino de Benamahoma
Located in the town of Benamahoma, in the former Mill of El Nacimiento or Los Capitalistas, the Mill of Benamahoma is near the Majaceite River and the fish farm, where the famous trout from these mountains can be purchased.
The exhibition in the Water Ecomuseum includes watermill machinery parts, together with other hydraulic artefacts that demonstrate the efficient use that the people of these mountains have been making of this essential element from Prehistory to the present day.
During the visit you will be able to appreciate the ecological importance of the climate and the water cycle in the Sierra de Grazalema Nature Reserve which has the highest rainfall in Spain. You will also find reproductions of traditional buildings and implements relating to the world of the mills for flour and oil, the fulling mills for treating wool on which the textile industry in Grazalema was based, as well as bakeries and other trades which in the past depended on water power.
This machinery is just a part of an interesting, attractive environment for visitors, which includes the source of the river, the start of the trail that leads to El Bosque and a former fulling mill converted into a fish farm.
