Cuevas Al Jatib is a rural complex of cave-houses, painstakingly refurbished and set in unique surroundings, in the characteristic, rugged landscape of the area, alongside a stream and 6 km from Baza.

Once upon a time the Hoya de Baza was formerly an immense blue lake inhabited by mammoths and rhinoceroses under the attentive watch of the first European man. Until forty years ago, this wild area, beautiful and forgotten, was scattered by small cave-dwelling villages on the banks of the eroded gullies that were shaped when the old lake dried up. Today is reborn in all its splendour one of these villages where Moors, plaster miners and humble farmers took refuge successively.

Fully refurbished, Cuevas Al Jatib comprise a complex with services such as bar-restaurant serving traditional, Arab-Moorish and French cuisine, a Hammam (Turkish bath), tea room and a cave that is specially prepared for children’s games.

The restaurant at Cuevas Al Jatib has a panoramic terrace and cosy rooms serving French and Moorish cuisine that is renewed each season, using the produce collected from our vegetable garden.

The district of Baza has an important tradition of spas, as proven by the presence of the Baths in the Jewish Quarter from the 10th century, and the Roman baths of Zújar. It is this tradition that has been restored with the Hammam, with 3 contrasting rooms: a hot water pool, a cold water pool and a warm area. Likewise, it also offers a wide variety of massages and treatments.
