Biography
Sebastián Peña Peña was born in the town of Lebrija, Seville, in 1911, and when he was very young he started to sing, encouraged by his family, because he was the grandson of Pinini, nephew of María Peña and brother of Diego Lagaña, cousin of Fernanda y Bernarda and father of Pedro and Inés Bacán.
He only really sang at family gatherings, but his descendants say he was the most important transmitter of the singing of Juaniquín de Lebrija. There is a recording made when he was 76 in the Jaén Flamenco Club, where he shows that the foundations of his school are based on Juan Talega and Manuel Torre. He died in Lebrija on 5 October 2005.
