Belonging to the municipality of Baños de la Encina and at the crossroads of the historic Camino Cascarrillo or Camino Real de Castilla and the livestock trail to Linares is this well, the Pozo de la Vega, alongside the ruins of the Casa Vilches, an old oil mill.

The fabulous Pozo de la Vega has a stone well and parapet, a beautifully made stone rim, and sandstone and granite basins; in general terms, an ethnographic system that could almost be considered a monument. Next to the well, just after the Camino Cascarrillo starts again, you can see bits of its old stone, which has led to it being chronologically positioned in Roman times despite its medieval origins.

The well, as a result of a high ground-water level, tells us that we are on land with a lot of water, which favours the existence of splendid woods, an excellent spot to take a break on the Geosendero de la Pizarrilla trail.
