Museo de la Cultura del Olivo
The Olive Culture Museum, created in 1997, is a temple to olive groves and olive oil in the province of Jaén. It is situated in a large building from the 17th century, where the winery stands out – it is a magnificent example of industrial architecture built in 1848 and known as “the cathedral of oil”.
The museum, considered an Asset of Cultural Interest, is divided into various areas: three buildings that house different kinds of olive mills, a garden with varieties of olive trees from several countries and the store.
On the tour, the steps for obtaining olive oil are shown, from the most traditional methods for growing olives, to the modern processes for marketing and packaging.
